March 2015: The last March 13th, occurred a technical visit of inspection to the Dam Canto da Cagarra, located in the Municipality of Ribeira Grande, Santo Antão Island.
The technical committee included representatives of the LEC - Civil Engineering Laboratory, representatives of the specialty Hydraulic / Dams LNEC - National Civil Engineering Laboratory of Portugal, MDR representatives, and the Contractor, Armando Cunha Cabo Verde.
The visit had as main objectives, inspect the dam structure, inspect the geological development of the embedding area of the main vestment and the dam control /monitoring instruments.
The water project of Vale da Garça, built by the Consortium Armando Cunha / Tamega, began in 2012 and was completed in July 2014, at this moment, because of the absence of rain during 2014, which did not allow its first filling, the reservoir is empty.
